Matthews Museum of Maine Heritage is open Daily during Union Fair from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm. This wonderful museum of 18th century home and farm implements is acclaimed as "one of New England's finest." Also featured in this museum is a special section honoring the Union native, Dr Augustin Thompson, who, in 1885, invented the one-time patent medicine, Moxie Nerve Food, which is now sold as a soft drink, Moxie. This museum is worth the visit, and if you can't make it during Union Fair week, the museum is open all summer long, July 1st through Labor Day, from noon to 5 pm (closed Mondays).
