Location
Livestock Show Ring
The judging of livestock is one of the mainstays of today's agricultural fairs. The fair were initially begun by the Dept. of Agriculture in the early to mid-1800's to enable farmers to come together and show there best animals and then exchange animal husbandry practises. This was done to encourage the betterment of agriculture. Likewise, this was also done for vegetables. Then seeds were exchanged, thus ensuring that Maine continued to enhance quality and production in Maine agriculture.
