UNION FAIR
Wild Blueberry Queen Coronation
Dear Applicants,
Thank you for expressing an interest in the Maine Wild Blueberry Queen Coronation. The
coronation is a fun, two day event. On Saturday, August 21nd , there will be a stage
practice at the fairgrounds followed by a banquet. On Sunday, August 22rd, there will be a
full day of events at the fair followed by the coronation that evening. The crowned Maine Wild Blueberry Queen will also need to be available for events throughout Union Fair the following week.
Please complete the application and return it to me along with twelve photographs (color
copies of head and shoulders please), your personal essay, and the sponsorship fee
of $300 (made out to the Union Fair).
Your one page personal essay should consist of around two hundred words and reflect
your own personal experiences. This essay is your opportunity to tell the judges who you
are. Your photographs will be used for publicity purposes to promote the coronation and
Union Fair. If you need help locating a blueberry grower/ processor sponsor, please
contact me (e-mail is best).
Your application, essay, photographs, and sponsorship fee must be returned to
me by July 18th.
After July 18th, you will receive a coronation folder which contains detailed information
concerning the Wild Blueberry Festival and Queen Coronation events. You will also
receive information about Maine’s Wild Blueberry Industry provided by the Maine
Blueberry Commission. This information is important as the judges do ask questions about
Maine’s wild blueberry. After all, you are vying for an important ambassador in Maine’s
Wild Blueberry industry!
