2026 Poster Contest Rules

Monday March 2, 2026


The following are the rules that both the Members of the Union Fair Society and the general public must follow regarding the Annual Union Fair Poster Contest.

  • The Annual Poster Contest is open to any US Citizen 13 years and older.

  • Medium, with the exception of digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) artwork is the artist's choice. 

  • The artwork must be in color. (Remember that the selected design will be utilized in the production of posters and other media so colors must be strong, design bold and graphic and avoid elements that do not reproduce clearly such as shading.)

  • Posters must include Maine Wild Blueberries and at least one traditional Union Fair agricultural  animal (Cow, horse, steer, oxen, rabbit, chicken, pig, sheep, goat). 

  • Posters may also include themes of this traditional agricultural fair which may include Union Fair buildings, fair/carnival rides and games, Moxie, 4-H, and crafts.

  • Posters must be poster size, approximately 11” x 17” and WILL NOT include any lettering, dates, or year, etc. 

  • Contestants are encouraged to submit entries yearly, but any Poster Contest Winner, including the Children’s Poster Contest Winner, must wait one year before entering their respective contest again. The exception is the current Children’s Poster Contest Winner could submit an entry to the Annual Poster Contest the next year. 

  • The Winner will receive a $750 cash prize. 

  • The winning artwork will become the property of the Union Fair who will hold exclusive rights to use said artwork.

  • All other contestants may pick up their artwork after the contest has concluded.

Children’s Poster Contest

  • Open to all US Citizens up to age 12 as of January 1st of the contest year.

  • The name and age of the child must be included with the submitted artwork.

  • The winner will receive 4 gate admissions (Minus rides unless those are included in the general admission price.) or a $50 credit at the Union Fair Souvenir shop that’s open during the Union Fair.

  • All other rules above apply

For Union Fair Society Members

  • No Society Member or their immediate family members can enter the Poster Contest
